December of 2014, Mike Bresnahan
wrote to suggest that we publish updates on the lives of
the Brothers and Lay Teachers who taught us when we were at West
Catholic. We
have been working on this report ever since receiving Mike's requests.
As a basis for this report we built on the list of deceased teachers that was
published in the 50th Anniversary Commemorative Booklet. A
special thank you to Brother Joseph Grabenstein,
Archivist of both the La Salle University Archives and the
Christian Brothers District of Eastern North American Archives,
for his assistance with this report. Also, thanks to Tom
Wallace and our classmates, Brother Steven Casale for
the many leads he provided, and John Staiber
for his diligent research. The picture
below is of the Christian Brother Novitiate in Ammendale,
Maryland. This
is where all novices began their training and education toward becoming
a Christian Brother. The Novitiate Building was destroyed in a fire in
1988. The building was razed several years later.

selected by the librarian, and members of the English Department, chose
a book they want to own, with no restrictions. It was Ed's way
of promoting reading and honoring those students whose love of reading is apparent. |
